To be invited to Jimmy Choo’s new collection presentation means gaining a sneak peak to Sandra Choi’s (Choo Creative Director) secret mind, where it all began.
I had an extremely busy schedule during the MFW but I didn’t even consider skipping the Choo event for the Autumn Winter 2014 collection, as it’s always a celebration not only for your eyes but also for your mind!
It was a sunny Saturday in Milan and I was walking in the streets looking for the event’s location. Having found the place, I entered the room and all I could see was its white decor. The shoes and the bags were placed on white wires that looked like the form of an acrobat, the waiters were wearing white uniforms and served white food and drinks.
As I’m familiar with Choo events I was looking for the reason they had chosen this natural but sophisticated
In this collection Choi teases us and suggests that things are not what they seem at first, and that’s why she invites closer inspection.
She explains:“The idea of an affair driven by unbridled passion and lust was front of mind when designing the collection. I revisited films that convey a sense of forbidden passion; Wong Kar-Wai’s ‘In The Mood for Love’ and ‘Les Liaisons Dangereuses’, where deception and illusion are key themes. I wanted to play with new perspectives creating pieces that would be lusted after; you want to covet them.”
The room was divided into three main sections, Night collection, Day wear and Classic. I was drawn to the fancy evening collection that included a new triangular heel (that might reflect the three people involved in an affair?) ankle straps (cuffs?) pointy toe finish (which was always sexy) and features satin and lace detailing with flashes of transparency that tease the eye mostly in black and burgundy (just like my outfit!).
The two items I simply couldn’t resist were the sexy black high heel shoes with black crystals and an ankle satin strap and the fab pony bag!
